Designed and installed a 15-foot interactive artwork in the university’s engineering building, incorporating sliding acrylic panels with painted elements. The installation aimed to seamlessly integrate art into a technical space, encouraging curiosity and engagement while providing a visual and interactive break for students.

The Problem
Engineering spaces often prioritize function over artistic expression. The challenge was to introduce an engaging, interactive artwork that fosters curiosity and playfulness within a high-stress academic environment.
The Research
I analyzed the space’s existing design elements, including acrylic architectural panels and the use of plants. Identified Montana’s cultural appreciation for nature and the outdoors. Observed how students primarily used the space for studying, often appearing stressed and in need of mental respite.

The Solution
Created an interactive installation that allows students to physically engage by sliding the acrylic panels. The design mimics existing architecture while enhancing reflections to amplify the experience. Artwork elements showcase Montana’s landscapes, reinforcing a connection to nature and offering a moment of playful escape.
